The Quaco Historical and Library Society is proud to welcome guests to the Quaco Museum and the Betty Thibodeau Library. Discover the sea-going history of the Village of St. Martins, New Brunswick, at the Quaco Museum. Take a tour and learn about the Commonwealth’s most prosperous village during the Golden Age of Sail. The Quaco Museum and its artifacts tell the history of this area from the Loyalist settlement to the shipbuilding families and the women of sail. Over 500 sailing vessels were built here in St. Martins, and we are home to an original (restored, not replicated) figurehead from ‘Prince Victor’, one of the local ships built here in 1870. Visit our UNESCO Fundy Biosphere and UNESCO Stonehammer Geopark exhibits and see fossils from the New Brunswick Museum that were actually found on our shores. If you’re into genealogy, talk to our genealogist at the Betty Thibodeau Library.
Whether you’re visiting the area or just driving through, the Quaco Museum in St. Martins is a unique experience for young and old. We welcome visitors to drop in for a tour or browse our gift shop–we’d love to share our history with you. Private group and school tours can be arranged outside of our regular seasonal hours. We look forward to having you visit the Quaco Museum!
