Summer of History 2026 is a province-wide initiative celebrating New Brunswick’s rich heritage across more than 100 museums and historic sites. Running from mid-May to October, the program invites visitors to explore everything from small rural museums and covered bridges to major historic villages and cultural landmarks, with a new featured experience highlighted daily during peak season (June–September).
Supported by Tourism, Heritage and Culture NB and heritage organizations across the province, the initiative encourages both locals and tourists to discover New Brunswick’s diverse stories—from Indigenous and Acadian heritage to natural history, industry, and the arts. Special highlights include “Love Your Covered Bridges Days” (July 24–August 3), as well as celebrations for National Indigenous Peoples Day and Acadian Day.
Visitors can also participate in a province-wide contest by visiting sites and entering on location, inspiring them to travel, explore new regions, and experience the history in their own backyard
